R. Michael Gozon is co-founder of Hammer Haley and a managing partner since August, 2001. From 1985 to 1999, Mike held various career progression roles for two publicly-traded forest product employers. Highlights include early years functioning as a sales representative in Baltimore-Washington and sales manager in Tampa, FL and Raleigh, NC. Corporate and division staff roles included Vice President, Marketing for Garrett-Buchanan (Unisource) based in Philadelphia, PA leading strategic marketing initiatives for this five location, $240MM Mid-Atlantic paper distributor. VP, Division Manager for Unisource leading a $100MM+ division with 100+ employees located in Baltimore-Washington and VP, Configuration Consultant providing functional industry expertise on a large-scale ERP implementation consolidating 26 disparate legacy systems and representing interests of 1,700+ sales and marketing employees from 104 North American distribution locations with revenues of $6B. In 1996, Mike was recruited to the white paper division of Boise Cascade based in Portland, OR as a sr. marketing manager tasked with leading growth strategy and innovation for the $350MM+ merchant paper business unit. He held additional responsibilities as the national sales manager of retail presiding over 'big box' account relationships. In January, 1999, Mike co-founded and was president of MPX, Inc. This Portland, OR based start-up created an electronic exchange trading platform for large volume buyers and sellers of cut-size paper. This venture was sold in September, 1999 to the Robert Kraft led PaperExchange based in Boston, MA. Mike became VP Sales for PaperExchange, a $50MM VC backed Internet exchange platform that was ultimately sold to Herlitz International Trading in the summer of 2001. Mike has an undergraduate degree in marketing from Southern Methodist University in 1985.
